With 2020 continuing to be a year of surprises, Microsoft have finally come out and detailed a crucial bit of Xbox Series X launch information: the console will be launching sometime in November 2020. However, it’ll be missing one of its crucial launch titles, Halo Infinite, which was delayed until sometime in 2021.

In a statement on the Xbox News blog, Microsoft weren’t ready to give an exact date for the launch of their fourth console, or even a price, but were happy to tout that even without Halo Infinite launching this year, there’s still plenty of reasons to invest in a Series X later this year; namely backwards compatibility, several console exclusives (The Medium, Tetris Effect: Connected) and features such as Smart Delivery. Halo Infinite’s delay, however, had a much clearer explanation. Over on the Halo Waypoint blog, 343 Industries head Chris Lee explained the reason for the delay was due to a number of factors contributed to challenges in development, specifically citing the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the global workforce.

With no further information as to what the Xbox Series X launch lineup actually looks like, it’ll be interesting to see how it’ll shake out over the next few weeks and months.

F1 2021 finds itself at a major juncture. It comes out the year before a major overhaul to the Formula One technical regulations, it’s the last game to be developed under an independent Codemasters (with the developer being acquired by EA in early 2021), and it’s likely that this is the last F1 title to be primarily developed for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I’m glad to report that this game ends the current era on a high note. Like last year’s game, F1 2021 presents a season unaffected by Covid. The default season still features races in Australia, Canada and Japan, despite them be...

Bandai Namco’s Tales series occupies an interesting space in the RPG canon. For over 25 years, it’s been thrilling audiences with exciting combat, memorable characters and distinct, anime inspired high fantasy. Tales of Arise, the latest game in the series since 2016’s Tales of Berseria, is the first entry in the series to have a simultaneous worldwide release, and if this is the game Namco wishes to declare as the first global Tales game, it’s a hell of a statement. Let’s get the obvious out of the way: Tales’ brand of RPG channels a heavy anime vibe, and Arise won’t change you...

If you ask the question, “why are the CouchWarriors events all called Ranbats?”  It’s short for Ranking Battle – a long standing tradition in the community, offering players an incentive to compare their progress and get ever stronger! Today we’re announcing an update to the point system to make it more inclusive of players of all levels. Of course, all our Ranking Battle live events are not just about tournaments, they’re perhaps moreso about socialising, casual matches and even long sets, with a great opportunity to learn and improve. By also having tourn...

Sunday, July 11th saw a year of pent-up competitive energy unleashed from a highly unusual venue. Inflation Nightclub and Entertainment Complex has been a party fixture on Melbourne’s King Street for decades, but they’d never seen anything quite like the crowd of 240+ FGC diehards hollering over the noise of the venue to celebrate a knockout blow.    With a brief window to take advantage of lowered COVID restrictions but no way to facilitate a full-sized major, an event was planned to carry on the spirit of BAM in the best available venue, and thus we got to enjoy #BANC – Bat...

To all the FGC community from the dedicated BAM team, we are announcing the postponenment of BAM 2021. After careful consideration of the COVID safety state across Australia, and discussions with the venue we have taken the difficult decision to postpone. We are moving BAM to its traditional month of May, 2022.  In its place, for those that can attend in Melbourne on July 11th, we will have a special alternative event we dub “BANC” or Battle Arena Nightclub. More on this below Why Postpone Due to the Melbourne lockdown recently, with a slow rate of changes to restrictions, the sco...

The fires of competition have burned more brightly than ever before across the CouchWarriors League, as we count down the days before the long-awaited BAM12 major. The month of May set a new all-time record for most ranking points on offer, impacting the race across all five CWL games. In the past, the league rankings have often been dominated by a handful of regional champions who can reliably scoop their local tournament every time – but 2021 is looking different. Not only have we seen a few instances of top players traveling interstate to play spoiler for one event, but almost every g...
