2K_Borderlands_Pre-Sequel_AthenaCombatFor those seeking more shoot ‘n loot antics, you’re in luck! 2K and Gearbox Software have just announced a new standalone Borderlands game! In co-development with Gearbox Software and 2K Australia, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a brand new title set between the events of the first Borderlands title and Borderlands 2 and seeks to further explore the tale of Handsome Jack.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be set on the moon overlooking Pandora, the environment Borderlands fans have become accustomed to in previous installments. Thus, the title will feature low-gravity sequences, emphasise over-the-top laser and ice Cryo based weaponry in true Borderlands fashion. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will feature four new playable characters operating under Hyperion and further explores the corporation’s rising presence as well as the antagonistic transformation of Handsome Jack, the big bad boss of the previous title Borderlands 2.

“Gearbox has entrusted 2K Australia with the co-development of their award-winning franchise and we are committed to delivering an all-new shoot ‘n’ loot experience that fans will love,” stated Tony Lawrence, General Manager of 2K Australia ” There’s nothing quite like moon jumping in a low-gravity gunfight, completely freezing a moon bandit with one of the new Cryo weapons, and then shattering him into little pieces that float off into space. It’s pretty epic.”

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has been announced for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 as well as PC and is currently set for a Spring 2014 release in Australia and New Zealand.
