Microsoft Announces Xbox Series X for November 2020, Delays Halo Infinite

With 2020 continuing to be a year of surprises, Microsoft have finally come out and detailed a crucial bit of Xbox Series X launch information: the console will be launching sometime in November 2020. However, it’ll be missing one of its crucial launch titles, Halo Infinite, which was delayed until sometime in 2021.

In a statement on the Xbox News blog, Microsoft weren’t ready to give an exact date for the launch of their fourth console, or even a price, but were happy to tout that even without Halo Infinite launching this year, there’s still plenty of reasons to invest in a Series X later this year; namely backwards compatibility, several console exclusives (The Medium, Tetris Effect: Connected) and features such as Smart Delivery. Halo Infinite’s delay, however, had a much clearer explanation. Over on the Halo Waypoint blog, 343 Industries head Chris Lee explained the reason for the delay was due to a number of factors contributed to challenges in development, specifically citing the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the global workforce.

With no further information as to what the Xbox Series X launch lineup actually looks like, it’ll be interesting to see how it’ll shake out over the next few weeks and months.
