Twitch Australian Servers Go Live

February 1, 2015

Twitch logoIn a surprising discovery, streaming juggernaut Twitch has launched Australian servers to aid local streaming and viewing experiences.

The discovery was noted by several users on Twitter (notably Australian Starcraft II observer Phil “inFeza” Bertino and Assault Android Cactus developer Syama Mishra), but Twitch has yet to formally announce the new servers. The reports are positive amongst those who did manage to test out the new servers today, and will certainly go a long way in increasing the quality of Australian streaming.

With the new servers, it’s possible to run higher bitrate streams, something which was not possible from the Singapore servers, which was previously Australia’s closest Twitch hub.
